Katie, like your sister I was one of the ordinary students. Teachers barely recognized or paid any attention to me at all. This is one of the reasons I decided to become a teacher. I wanted to make sure that the ordinary students didn't get left behind and fall through the cracks. All children are special and have unique skills and abilities that make them valuable to the society in which we live. We just need to take time to get to know them so that we can encourage and motivate them as they work towards success.
